UCSJ partners with Ukraine’s Center for Civil Liberties

The UCSJ is proud to partner with the Center for Civil Liberties (CCL), a 2022 Nobel Peace Prize laureate, in Ukraine.

Together, we are working to establish the Ukraine Religious Freedom Roundtable, which promotes interfaith dialogue and religious liberty in the region (https://religiousfreedom.in.ua/en). 

Through the Human Rights Agenda platform, CCL focuses on fundamental reforms in law enforcement, the Security Service of Ukraine, the judicial system, and the Institute of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights.

The group’s key priority is the integration of international law into Ukrainian legislation, particularly through the ratification of significant treaties such as the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (the Istanbul Convention) and the Rome Statute.

We recognize the importance of initiatives like CCL’s PROBONO.HELP, a 24/7 contact center that connects people in need with organizations and initiatives that can provide vital assistance, especially in times of crisis.

We intend to support and collaborate on efforts like the Kyiv School of Human Rights and Democracy, an educational platform operated by the organization.

The school’s open lectures, trainings, discussions, film screenings, roundtables, and educational courses across Kyiv and other cities are instrumental in fostering human rights awareness. We are eager to explore opportunities to contribute to these efforts, recognizing their crucial role in shaping the next generation of human rights defenders and advocates in Ukraine.
