Larry Lerner, UCSJ Vice-President, has a distinguished legal career intertwined with a passion for social justice. As a leading attorney in New Jersey, he tackled racial discrimination and advocated for fair housing in the 1960s, while successfully pursuing landmark cases like the New Jersey reapportionment on “one man, one vote.” A Georgetown Law graduate, Lerner founded Lerner, David, now with over 70 attorneys.
Since 1979, he has focused on human rights in the former Soviet Union, supporting Refuseniks and ex-prisoners of conscience. As UCSJ President, he combats antisemitism and xenophobia, and promotes human rights and the rule of law. Lerner also contributes to MeretzUSA and J Street, advocating for democratic values in Israel.
